Day 4: Sunday is not a rest day for us
We started our day with a meeting with the Gambian Red Cross, West Coast Region in Brikama. Their plan is to train one first aider for every compound (a family community) by 2020. We have big plans, but so has the Gambian Red Cross.
We made a short stop in Serrekunda, the largest market of the Gambia.
The nursery school in Nyofelleh was our next stop. The headmaster was already waiting for us, so we could get started right away. We emptied and cleaned the classrooms, outlined and partially coloured in drawings on the walls, and put out the chairs and desks for the next day. Thanks to the helping hands of the headmaster, teachers and enthusiastic kids everything went smoothly. The carpenter dropped by. He’s going to make 5 bookcases and arrange for suitable desks.
We are ready for our first school day!
