We got up early, ate breakfast without tea or coffee (Gambia wasn’t ready for it yet) and got on the bus to the school in Sifoe. This time another third grade class enjoyed our help. We all got teary eyes when this class sang a farewell song.
At 11 am it was time to pray, but not for us. Helped by a few diligent pupils we carried on with the friendship bracelets. During our conversations with the children we learned that in Mandinka Ina means mother and Baba means father. Hence Ina is the mother of all the Mandinka children.
Next we walked to the health centre to say goodbye to Vriesman, but unfortunately he wasn’t there.
At 4.30 pm we were expected at Kalifa’s for a goodbye dinner. It was an evening of good food (we ate a lot!) and plenty of beautiful words.
